Cyber-Animism:
The Western post-enlightenment civilization struggles with making sense of consciousness, agency and the relationship between mind, meaning and reality. Interestingly, most other cultures do not: they unabashedly use concepts like spirit, soul, gods, which we treat as the superstitious remnants of a failed pre-scientific mythology. It is hard to translate these concepts into our rationalist world view, because our metaphysics is incompatible with them, and we lack a meta-metaphysics that would allow us to translate across world views. Let's see how these problems can be resolved, using entirely rational insights that bridge from Artificial Intelligence into a genuine systemic psychology. Let us rediscover the structure of the individual psyche, the inter-psychological phenomena we used to call gods, and the ubiquitous self organizing software agents that animate living nature.
